7ft x 5ft, "Full Body Portrait", 2025, Acrylic on Un-stretched Canvas
I created a life sized self portrait with acrylic paint. The portrait includes myself laying in a grassy environment with a blue sky and two horses surrounding me. I experimented with scale within this piece, with my body being proportionately life sized and large yellow tulips surrounding the background. The horses are smaller in size compared to me which is where I experimented with scale the most. In order to merge myself within the environment I placed my body in, I painted my hair a green color that melts into the background of the green mountains that surround me and placed my right arm into a body of water. My intention for this piece was to create a painting that conveyed the message of the community that wants to be involved around nature and how you can become your surroundings, which for me is my Kentucky roots. I enjoy the idea that you are what became before you. While I considered that statement I began to think about my late grandmother. We spent most of our time in her garden. I vividly remember her bright yellow tulips which is an homage to her presence in my life within my painting.

"Moira, Katie, and Macaroni the Pony", commissioned 2026, 24in x 36in, Oil on Canvas
My first commissioned painting.
"Me. Myself, and I", 2025, 18 in x 24 in, Acrylic on Canvas
For this acrylic painting, I wanted to focus on the external and internal aspects of my appearance and my personality. I incorporated three images of myself within this painting. The portrait in the front is how I see myself externally as shy but sweet. The figure looks above to me sitting on my bathroom counter glaring into a mirror. I wanted to experiment with a sense of surrealism by placing the image of me laying in my bed within my mirror. I enjoy this composition as it keeps the viewer's eyes moving and observing over the whole painting.
